Man Behind the Murals: Chicho Lorenzo of IX Art Park

Local muralist Chicho Lorenzo shares the philosophy surrounding Charlottesville’s IX Art Park

Meet Chicho Lorenzo – a local artist from Madrid, Spain who never stops smiling. On a sunny Friday afternoon, we had the privilege of chatting with Chicho about his dreams for the IX Art Park, a vibrant and open space near the Downtown Mall. The art park, welcome to all members of the community, is the venue for Charlottesville’s groovy Tom Tom Founders Festival and various other local events. Chicho hopes for the park to become an embodiment of the creative spirit of Charlottesville and a place for its visitors to dream and have fun.
